About Me:
Bridge Retreat is an integral life practice and education center.
Mission:
To bring together people interested in yoga, philosophy, life practices, meditation, chanting, dance, art, nature, and, above all, sharing knowledge and experiences.
Intention:
To establish an integral practice center offering an eclectic array of experiences where we bring together people who want to explore, unite, and be. Along with all sorts of yoga, meditation, discussion, and learning, participants can horseback ride, boat, ski, fish, swim, hike, and eat fabulous foods. It's all about raising energy and consciousness…and having fun along the way…sat chit ananda.
Location:
Bridge Retreat is located about one hour to the east of Nashville, Tennessee in the small town of Granville. The retreat is positioned along a mountain ridge overlooking the Cumberland River and Cordell Hull Lake with mountain views in all directions and 180 degrees of water views. Adjacent to Bridge Retreat are 2200 acres of public lands along the lake filled with trails for horseback riding and hiking. Camping is welcomed at Bridge retreat anytime – just contact us and we'll assure you a spot. Your animals are welcome…and, of course, we are kid friendly. Boating, fishing, and swimming are also part of the experience here…so bring your gear.
Schedule:
Summer and Fall 2010 schedule of events and workshops to be announced soon! Teachers and facilitators who have already signed on include: Bhagavan Das doing a Naad Yoga Workshop, Jiwan Shakti Kaur leading a kundalini yoga set and mediation with live music followed by ecstatic dance, Sati Rose Yogeshwari facilitating a kundalini workshop, Sati (of World Evolution in Long Beach) leading week-long Tibetan Yoga introduction, Rachel Mathenia (12 South Yoga in Nashville) leading Iyengar classess, Christiane leading Ashtanga and Belly Dance workshops, Thomas Mether facilitating Ayurveda workshops and philosophical discussions, and the list continues to grow.
Some Personal History: After completing my studies in philosopy, concentrating on ethics and religious pluralism, at California State, Long Beach, I began teaching. I love being in the classroom and I adore my students. However, I found the structure of academia to be unnecessarily constraining and I was not always reading about, discussing, or teaching the things that are most important to me…or what I believe to be most important to my students. Thus, the journey of teaching (and promoting my own personal progress through learning brom both students and other teachers) continues in just the way my mentor, Joseph Campbell proclaimed – by following my bliss.
Big Picture:
As we seek to be a place that fosters personal growth, deeping of existing personal practices, opening doors to new practices, opening minds to new ways of thinking, and being a sacred place for tranquility, equanimity, and bliss, the big picture is to rid the world of intolerance…see my short blog on this issue.
